Support WJ Relay for Life 2009

Hi all,

I’m writing this letter to hopefully rally some troops! As many of you know, I’m involved in an amazing charity called “Relay for Life” in West Jordan. Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people from all walks of life will camp out at West Jordan Park on June 26th -27th. We have fun while raising much-needed funds to fight cancer and raise awareness of cancer prevention and treatment.

Our goals are to:

• Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors inspires others to continue to fight.

• Remember loved ones lost to the disease. At Relay, people who have walked alongside people battling cancer can grieve and find healing.

• Fight Back. We Relay because we have been touched by cancer and desperately want to put an end to the disease.

I’d like to share with you the reason I Relay:

I relay because: In my lifetime, I’d like to see the day we find a cure for cancer!

With that said, I’m asking for your help to join our charity in hopes that no one else we love, loses someone special to them, due to cancer. You can be involved as little as or as much as you’d like. Some ways to help are below:

Start a Team: Team Captains and Team Members are the "foot-soldiers" in the fight against cancer. Team Captains lead their team by representing them at monthly update meetings and are the liaisons between the Event Committee and your team. Team Captains organize the team's participation in activities before and throughout the night of the event. The teams also set up activities and booths to sell goods to the public to raise funds.

Recruit Survivors: If you know of a survivor that you think should be honored, please give me their contact info. as we would love to honor them.

Corporate Sponsorship: Have some pull in your company or think the company you work for would be interested in donating for a tax write off? We advertise very heavily to the huge crowd we draw and allow companies to set up a booth to sell goods at the relay if they’d like.

Youth Involvement: Start a team of children to camp out for the night and be a part of this fun event. Involve their schools to help raise money.

Purchase/Sell Luminarias: During the event, we honor our loved ones with the luminaria ceremony. The luminaria bags are $5 and are usually decorated to honor someone who has either beat, is beating or has passed away from cancer. If you’d like some, let me know and I’ll either deliver them or mail them to you.

Donate Yard Sale Items: We are having a yard sale the morning of May 16th in the southwest parking lot of 7100 S. and Redwood Rd. (same parking lot as Furniture Warehouse). If you have anything you’d like to donate, let me know and we’ll arrange to have it picked up. (No clothes please.) All proceeds go to the charity.

Become a Committee Member/Volunteer: We have a couple positions still available if you’d like to be involved individually. A committee member has a specific role, where as a volunteer helps the day of. If you are interested, let me know and I’ll get you added to our google group!

Make a monetary donation: Visit my personal page to make an online donation. Any amount is helpful in our efforts! http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLFY09GW?px=5740214&pg=personal&fr_id=14940

Pass Along This E-mail! Send this to anyone you think would be interested.

Thanks for your support! For more information about the Relay, visit www.relayforlife.org/westjordanut

Go Utes 13-0!!!

Last night was the much anticipated Sugar Bowl - Utah vs. Alabama! We went up to our good friends Brandon and Brady's house to watch the game and hang out. Unfortunately we don't get to see them that much so it was soooo good to go hang out with them and see a lot of people we haven't seen in a while. Of course Utah stomped on Alabama which was awesome....it was a great game and Utah should be very proud of their football team! The kids had a blast playing with the other kids that were there...and there were a lot! I forgot my camera though so I don't have any pics which is unfortunate because there would have been some good ones! All the little girls dressed up in Bryce's princess dresses and the boys just ran around playing with trucks and anything else they could get their hands on. Thanks Brandon and Brady for inviting us and we hope to see you a lot more in 2009!!!

Happy Birthday/New Year!

One of my bestest friends in the whole world Tiffany was born on December 31...yes New Year's Eve. Alecia and I threw her a birthday bash and it was so much fun! We turned the music up and did some dancing, had some good drinks and spent time with great people! Thanks everyone that came and made Tiff's birthday a success! Of course we counted down the seconds to the new year and gave out new year kisses! I feel so blessed to have great people to spend special moments like these, it sure makes life easier!

How Much Can I Fit Into One Post?!

Wow, it has been really busy this month so I have lots to post about! First off, we had my work Holiday Party which is always fun because I work with the best girls ever! We went to a country club in Draper where we had some yummy dinner and then our bosses gave us all gag gifts. They put a lot of thought into the gifts and got the perfect gag gift for every employee, it was really funny. Then they had a hypnotist which was the highlight of the evening! Our good friend Sierra decided to go up and be hypnotized and it was so freaking hilarious...she stole the show!!

Then, a few weeks ago Tiffany hosted a birthday party at her house for me. A few friends came over and we played some pool and had some yummy drinks! The kids danced around to the music and we had a good time! Thanks Tiffany for being such a wonderful friend to me! And thanks to everyone that came, I love you all!

The next week was Madison's Christmas Recital at school. She loved singing up on the stage and looked so darn cute! Then Corbin's birthday party was on Friday so we went to my Dad's house and had some pizza, cake and ice cream! It was fun watching him open his presents and the kids love to play together...as always! Then last Tuesday was my actual birthday so we decided to go out to dinner with a few friends and then came back to my place to hang out for a while. I am so grateful to have such awesome friends and family! Of course, Christmas followed just two short days later. We got the kids up at 6:30 which was harder than I thought it would be. They wanted to just sleep on, but we kept telling them that Santa had come and to go check it out! Finally Madi got up and went into the living room with Ethan right on her heels. We opened presents and then headed over to my Dad's to open presents with them and with Alecia and the boys. The kids sure made out with some great presents as did we! Then, after the power went out and came back on, we made a big breakfast which was so good after having to wait for the power! That made me realize how much we rely on power for so many things, but luckily it was only out for about an hour. After breakfast, we went over to Dylan's parents and opened presents with them and had some lunch. It was a good Christmas and a very busy month! I haven't done very much this weekend, trying to recover!! Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas too! These pics are from my Birthday Dinner, Madi's recital and Christmas:

Lights, lights and Rock Band!

Last night we decided to take a trip downtown to check out the lights at Temple Square. We got the kids all bundled up and headed out along with Alecia, Corbin, Caden, Grandpa and Grandma. The traffic to get downtown was just HORRIBLE! I think everyone decided to go downtown last night, it was crazy. So it took us over an hour to drive downtown and find a place to park. Then we walked about 4 blocks to temple square where we had to STAND IN LINE to look at the lights because it was just so crowded. Even though it was crowded, we did have fun and I think the kids enjoyed the chance to hang out together and look at the pretty lights!
After the lights, we went over to Jason and Ashley's house to hang out. Unfortunately Ashley wasn't home, but the kids had fun playing with Kayden and Jason. We played rock band while the kids pretty much danced their hearts out and attempted to sing along! Once it was late, and Ethan was very tired, we layed him down and put a movie on for the girls. Then Jason, Dylan and I played an intense game of scrabble!! The winner was debatable although we all know Dylan took the prize. Ashley got home just before we left so it was nice to see her for a bit. We were so tired so we headed home and called it a night...even though it was technically morning! I am pretty tired today from staying up so late, cause y'all know I am not much of a night owl but it was worth it!

Save the Jungle...Lipstick that is!

About a month ago an awesome friend of mine told me about this show on NBC called Lipstick Jungle. I set my DVR to record the show, but then kinda forgot about it. Then one Saturday I was really bored and the kids were napping so I decided to start watching. I was immediately hooked! It's about these three women who are best friends living in NYC. I hear it is similar to Sex and the City, although I never watched that show (in fact I think it is the same writer). Anyway, only days after I get hooked on this fabulous show, I find out that they are planning to cancel it!! I was so upset because I haven't found a show I like THIS much in a while (kinda getting bored with the ones I watch) so I thought....hmmm....should I write in to the network?? That's kinda lame right?? Well, I never did write in, but I guess thousands of other fans had the same idea and did write in and also sent in tubes of lipstick just begging for another shot. The ratings have actually gone UP in the past couple of weeks so now they might give the show another chance!! Wow, that would just make me so happy! So, I am telling you all this hoping you will give this show the chance it deserves because I think if they just gave it some more time it would catch on and be a hit!! Tell your friends too, it is one the guys can get into also. I know Dylan likes watching the brunette so I am sure your guys would get into it too! Even if they pretend they don't like it - ha ha!! The show is currently on Friday nights on NBC and I think they just moved it to 7:00. Get ready, on your mark, go set your DVR and watch it!!!

My date with Edward was a hit!!

I have been waiting for this weekend for a very long time and it has finally come...and now gone! A few friends and I went to lunch at Red Robin where we were all just so anxious during the meal awaiting the main event. Finally, lunch came to an end and we headed over to the Megaplex theaters at the District. We went to the little kiosks and retrieved our tickets, then we headed to our theater to watch the movie "TWILIGHT"!!!! I was so freaking excited when the movie started and I loved the whole thing. It definitely lived up to my expectations and I can't wait to go see it again! I hope this doesn't ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen the movie, but I just felt the need to say I am so excited I finally got the opportunity to see Bella and Edward on the big screen - it was awesome. Kind of an out of body experience actually!

Then after the movie, a couple friends came back to our place and hung out - and of course we had some of the best entertainment you can find...four crazy kids! Alecia and her kids came over so that always makes for an exciting and crazy time! I am glad I have great friends to share these experiences with and I love hanging out with you friends!!
